The Pathfinder is a locally owned and operated outdoor equipment store in Manhattan, Kansas. We opened in 1975 and specialize in gear and clothing for bicycling, backpacking, paddling, climbing, traveling, fly fishing and other outdoor activities. The Pathfinder is located in Downtown Manhattan, Kansas. Our distinctive green awning can be found at 304 Poyntz, just west of the Manhattan Town Center mall.
Self-Powered Radio/Flashlight
This is a great time for people to get ready for bad weather and power outages. We have many products designed to provide light and heat where there is no power, but perhaps our favorite is the Eton self-powered radio/flashlight. With a built-in hand-powered generator and a solar cell, this battery-powered radio can be charged without plugging into the grid. The radio section receives AM/FM and weather band frequencies while the light uses efficient LED bulbs. Plus you can charge your cell phone using the solar cell or the hand crank.
Hands-On Gear Test
There’s nothing better than testing products in the field, and last weekend the owners and lead buyer of The Pathfinder spent the weekend on Orcas Island (in the San Juan Islands north of Seattle) analyzing the features of gear and clothing we sell at The Pathfinder. To outsiders, it may have looked like they were on vacation, but they assure us they were working hard!
The North Face's Purple Pride
Football season is right around the corner, and even The North Face is getting into the Purple spirit! We recently received some products from a special-edition collection that are K-State purple! It includes some purple and grey fleece, rain gear, T-shirts and sweatshirts that will be perfect for game days this fall. Some of the items also have special patches on them, identifying the Khumbu Climbing School, which is the inspiration for the collection.
New Camelbak Bottles
We just got in new stainless steel Camelbak bottles -- and they are great! The new bottles are .75 liters and are silver -- some plain, some with great environmental themed designs.
In addition, there are some new .5 liter insulated stainless steel bottles.
These bottles were the hottest item around the Outdoor Retailer trade show in Salt Lake City this summer. We're excited to finally have some to share with you.
